after my mom had left my dad, the elders came by pretty regularly.
they wanted to remind her that she needed to return to her husband because she didn't have grounds to leave him.
before all this we had so many family members over all the time, cousins and friends our age, but now all of them were gone.

What happened to your mom: is she in better circumstances and did she go back to the JWs?

i never thought about it before, because i did not have to.

I believe when we die we go to The Land of the Dead. What is it? I do not know. What will we do? Don't know.
It is acccepting the unknowns as a part of the Journey with the same cnfidence as accepting what I do know...which, by the way, is practically zip......

Imagine you have a boil or some other med condition that requires "lancing" so that it will drain, have the needed cleansing and medicating, and then the treatment to heal with as little scaring as possible....
Would you rather have it lanced in a quick, clean manner or would you rather the doctor just sorta pick at it....maybe cut a bit into it and then wait a few minutes and cut another tad and then wait and cut a bit more in this jagged, "when will this end" mode?
That is the situaiton you face now: you choose.

i just got a call from the brother of the woman, *******, who is contemplating joining the jw group.
he told me that he had spoken to his sister about someone who had been a part of the group (i had told him about you), and, she said that she would be interested in talking to you.. .

I am still convinced the best place to start is Mathew 24:14 and focus on the fact that "THIS"" Good News is what would be preached. Show the effects of the Good News:
Baptism
New Birth
Lord's Meal
Etc.
All the effects that would happen.
Compare the effects with the Good News of Christ with the Good News of the JWs. If it is the sme....ok. If the JW good news results in a different effect then Galations Chapter 1 comes into plany....

i just had a lovely weekend visiting with non-jw family and seeing how beautiful and intelligent my 10year old niece has become.
watching her taking part in lots of activities - singing in a choir and playing the trombone i was so proud of her and very glad that she isn't burdened and opppressed by the rules of the wt.
how rewarding it is to see children exploring all their potential and being able to express themselves without fear of being thought "worldly" or bad association.

I, always, compare our little guy, Levi, now six, to our three children (youngest, 24) and, in seeing Levi celebrate birthdays, Christmas, etc: see the joy and freedom....
I could just weep for my kids....alll the loss.....it is so damningly tragic.
All I can do is admit to being the causation of co-operating with this ignorance, apologize, and encourage others to a different course....
You mentioned doing more: I started a web site, spent quite a bit of money and time, had it up and going three years or so.....very little response....maybe thirty people. I met a few through that site that made the expense more than worth while. I think supporitng boards like this and encouraging people is the best route. Also, if one can afford it....I can not....the apostate-fests must be great. Also, networking and support a couple of ministries....I like BRCI and route people there.
And, being happy and progressing....that is the best Anti-JW path a person can take.

i grew up as a jehovah's witness.
my mother was uneducated and so we moved every 2-4 years as she tried to find stable enough work to support a child so ive attended many kingdom halls and have known many witnesses and many elders.
i've never gone back to the witness organization and never will.

Just got home from work....long day as always...I am going to respond to this one post.
Do I "hate" the WT? If we are defining "hatred" as: "the resistance to evil and darkness with intensity with the intensiity that manifests itself in the sense of personal loss and, worse ten times over, the personal loss done to one's children" tjhen, yes, I hate the WT.
I had this same conversation with my relatives the other day. They were damining me because I was "judging" the WT and the WT was filled with "good" people.
Yes, I "judge" the WT in the same way I "judge" a rattle snake about to bite my daughter....the thing is dangerous and I will do anything to prevent the strike. The WT is dangerous in the same way: the teachings are lies, half-truths, historical re-wriites, and deception. This is an organization of individuals that have turned mind, heart, and conscience over to men that are depraved, insane, and without a sense of guilt for the crimes they have committed.
And, I do not hold JWs to be "good." They are sons and daughters of Darkness. And, the piurpose of thier lives is to invite others into the darkness and stench they inhabit gleefully.
You left the JWs for the freedom to "screw." And, you, no doubt, led a "screw happy" life until such time as you settled down and any residue of the JWs has not infected your family. Now, you are content and happy. Good for you and I wish you the best.
While you were out "screwing" many of us were being screwed over....I guess that is the difference.

I have never "strayed" from my physical relationship with my wife. As a JW, I was not mentally, emotionally loyal. Since my baptism as a Christian in '03, I have kept my focus on my wife, alone. True, being a harmonal male, seein an attractive female, there are those "momments," however, I, quickly, regain my focus. I am not interested in other women.....Mrs. Williams, ONLY....

2 years ago i left jws.
i went to a baptist church because it was what my husband was.
i knew i wanted to go to church but which one i really didn't know yet.. two years later, i think i have made up my mind: presbyterian.. anyone have anything they want to share?

Here is something surprising that I have noted about the JWs that continue to approach Christianity with an open mind and do not recoil from truthfulness:
They journey toward the Historic Church: Anglican, Roman, and Orthodox.
You have moved from a very Protastant group (Baptist) to a more "midldle" ground group. The Prebs are closer to the Historic Church than the Baptists. I think it may be a part of Journey.....
